Project Angel is an Overseas Service-Learning Project under the National University of Singapore Students’ Science Club since 2000, with the objective of providing assistance to disaster hit areas overseas, but also serving our local communities. Our project aims to promote a nurturing environment for NUS Science undergraduates to develop their sense of volunteerism through experiential learning and to inspire youths to return their service to the society.
This coming May, our team of 19 members will be heading to Phnom Penh, Cambodia for a community service expedition over a period of 15 days. The two main communities that we will be serving are Koh Rumdual Island (Widows’ Island) and Sa’ang District School. Our project seeks to improve the conduciveness of the rural schools, through simple infrastructure, as well as sharing our knowledge with Cambodian children through various educational activities, promoting sustainability for the village community. We will be opening our hearts to new experiences, hoping to bring back valuable lessons back to our local community.
